Walk in the Willows is about the trials and tribulations of life from a teenager’s point of view. Karen Wayland is a girl who is verbally and physically mistreated by her aunt and uncle. Karen is extremely bright, but gets taunted daily at school. She finds solace in a friend (John) that she meets behind the elementary school. John and Karen run away together one evening. As Karen and John’s lives develop, many characters and situations come into play. Eventually, both Karen and John find a way through their troubles, and are successfully reunited with Karen’s mom.
